OUGD505: Product, Range, Distribution - The Oscars (Viewing Party Research)

The Oscars is such a prestigious event in America that Americans consider Oscar winners as royalty. It has been said in the past that the American people treat Oscar winners like we treat our royal family. With the ceremony being such a widely appreciated event there are many people who get together and host viewing parties. These parties range in size and act as a miniature ceremony for people to experience the Oscars for themselves. There are many websites which are dedicated to viewing party ideas, this is one of my ideas for Studio Brief 2 so I thought it relevant to research some of the existing party branding and ideas.

I found these ideas on google and I can see a similar pattern developing within all of the examples. The colour is similar in each, they all have gold within them and most have black. The food is similar with each too, this means that I will have to come up with something very different to stand out. Though this idea might not be the strongest it does present me with ways to branch out and come up with a range of different options for different awards ceremonies worldwide.

We’ve all dreamed about what it must be like to attend the Oscars—to be primped and pampered and dressed in a designer gown, to see the world’s favorite movie stars in the flesh, and to sip champagne with the best of them. Unfortunately, for most of us, this will never be a reality. But fret not! This year, bring the glamour straight into your own home by hosting an Oscars viewing party! We came up with a few easy DIY projects that are definitely award winners.

The Oscars party that I teased a couple weeks ago is finally up! Get ready to host a fun night of celeb sightings at your place on February 27th!
You can find full details on the party + more pictures right here. You’ll also find links to download all of the different free printables in the same spot (napkin wraps, patterns, popcorn labels, & more), or if you want to quickly download everything all at once, see the bottom of this post for the full list! I also made a blank version of the decorative labels in case you want to use these printables for something else. You really could tailor them to any sort of occasion. I keep thinking “engagement party” for some reason…or maybe a “bumble bee” baby shower.

Thinking of having a last minute Oscar Party this upcoming Sunday night? I sure am! Even though I didn’t plan it out, how hard can it be to make a cute last minute “popcorn bar” and break out some ingredients for a lovely cocktail. I want to make this Oscar Night Smash courtesy of Camille Styles – it looks and sounds de-licious!! See photos for some Oscar Night inspiration above & below. Afterall, there’s no reason why you can’t watch the Oscars from the comfort of your own couch with a little touch of glamour. What are your weekend plans? xo, Stefanie
